Im dream of a White September

I'm dreaming of a White September

2filters.com finally was able to ship my Hoya R72 filter. Apparently Hoya was backlogged so I had to wait six months for the filter. It was worth the wait. This is my first IR image ever. Other than an unsharp mask, I didn’t do anything to this phot. Well I did change the white balance so the photo didn’t look red on red. Not bad for my first go at this.

28mm Vivitar Fun

28mm Vivitar Fun

The one main problem with this Vivitar 28mm f/2.8 lens is that it is CHEAP. There is a huge difference between the image quality of this lens and my 50mm Pentax lenses. I think I’m going to start looking for a 31 or 35mm Pentax lens for very closeup work. Though it is silly of me to attempt live macro work with anything under 70mm.

This photo is not cropped. Feel free to click on it to view a much larger version.

Not sharp but still viewable.

Not sharp but Flashy

I spent today with my $10 ebay special 28mm on the end of my cheap Chinese extension tubes taking more macros. The glass was almost touching the subjects. The result was some really closeup photos.

Patterns of the Moth

This moth has some wonderful patterns on its wings. At least I think it is a moth.  Keeping butterflies and moths apart drives my batty. Anywho, I’m thinking of buying some bellows for better macro work. Though they will probably require the use of a tripod.  Most the macros I have taken this year have been hand held. Focusing is done via movement of my body.  I still do not have a dedicated macro lens. Only real change has been from the Pentax-M f1.4 lens to the Pentax-M f1.7 lens.  This lens a bokeh better suited to macro in my humble opinion.
