Spectrolite

February 18th, 2009

I have not had a lot of time lately to go out and take photos. Instead I’m using my extension tubes (again);taking macro photos with them. This is a photo of some rough Spectrolite I have around the house. I just love the deep dark blues and greens this stone has. I placed water on the stone to help bring out the effect more. Spectrolite is a form of Labradorite that is only found in Finland. What makes this variety of stone unique, is that it has a wonderful shiller effect in the right light. Red Spectrolite is supposed to be the highest quality of the stone, and its price reflects that. So I don’t own red. Just some very nice blue/green types. When the Spectrolite stone flashes, it’s almost like the stone is looking into one’s soul. I get goosebumps from the effect.

PDML’s Photo Annual 2008-2009 book got released today. It’s a book full of photos by members of the Pentax Discuss Mailing List. (Including oneĀ  or two of my own. I’m still not how many of mine are included because some photos got dropped due to space issues.). So buy a copy. All the profits go to a good cause.
