ANM Patch
October 7th, 2008
Evolution of the Airsoft New Mexico Patch.
The real first draft was though up when I was trying to figure out what the main image should be. I had seen many examples of patches at Camotech.com, and being influenced by that almost went with a standard state outline , some guns and our name. Then after seeing yet some more art of a Roadrunner with a lizard in its beak, the theme of the patch came to me. First I though of roadrunner wearing a helmet and tac gear with two other arms holding gun. I quickly threw that out and though of the lizard again and decided to place a grenade in its beak. Perfection.
This first image is my rough rough draft.

This second image is slightly more refined. The lettering is now curved, and I’ve added the crossed guns (somthing I was thinking of, and Jeff really wanted, which pushed me over the edge)

The concept image was done. These next couple images are different color schemes from which I used different camo patterns for the color maps.

At this point I knew i needed to really work on the bird. I purchased a royalty free clip art that was perfect for my uses. I changed from M16′s to M4′s as well and created draft #3. Everyone of these drafts from now on are about 3000×3000 pixels in the originals.

Next I changed the colors to a green scheme.

That is almost perfect, but I decided to add a wee bit of color and came up this final version with red lettering. This is version I submitted to the Patch maker.

The Patch maker emailed me a scan on the sample patch, this is it.

I decided to increase the Sun Zia’s size and move it between the guns. Hopfully this will allow it to have better detail. Otherwise I’ll remove it completly. The text should change to maroon. The ANM should be slightly less visable, and hopfully the letting will hug the edges better. Otherwise the patch is pretty damn good. This is the response draft to the sampe that I sent to the patch maker.

Update (2008-10-20)
Patch story to date. Got back the new patch sample.

That sample is almost perfect, but I needed to change the NM symbol to one that showed up better. So I changed to the NM Flag one. (I should of used that one from the start).

I promptly got a reply back with an update sample (these guys are fast).

Near Perfection
The final sample is almost perfect. This is the design I’m going with for this first run. If patch is popular, (in other words, if I sell out and have lots of requests for more), I’ll probably do a run of Desert colored ones as well green-without-the-red ones.
We should have this patches read for the zombie game on Oct. 26th, if the patch making is completed today(Monday the 20th) or Tuesday. Please don’t give this page or it’s password to anyone.
