Megan looking out over Albuquerque.

My sister-in-law, Megan, does not like her photo being taken. Fortunately, I’m sneaky, so wonderful photos like this one exist. She made sure not to sit on the cliff in view of her son due to the monkey see monkey do issue.

Republicans introduce Assault Weapons Ban

June 23rd, 2008

A few House Republicans have introduced the “Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008″ (H.R. 6257). H.R. 6257 will make owning a gun that has a magazine capacity over 5 rounds difficult.  These are the very elected officials who are supposed to be protecting us from legislation like this. The bill can be read here: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-6257 . This bill was introduced on Jun 12, 2008 by Rep. Mark Kirk [R-IL], and is cosponsored by Rep. Michael Castle [R-DE], Rep. Michael Ferguson [R-NJ], Rep. Christopher Shays [R-CT]. We need to make sure that this Bill dies in committee.

Please contact your local house representive and tell them you do not want this bill to go forward. If your representative is on the House Committee on the Judiciary , make doubly sure you contact him or her as this is the committee where this Bill can die.

A first for me

November 11th, 2007

A sad story for you all. I just went to my first metal concert at the age of 27. A direct result of not getting into metal until my mid 20′s.

I saw Nightwish (with Paradise Lost) at the Sunshine Theater on November 8th. I had been wanting to see them live since 2004. In 2005 I was supposed to see them in San Fransisco, but the USA tour was canceled due to reasons that can be found else where. I had tickets, and while they were refuended, the Ticketmaster fees were not. Grumble grumble. Two years later I see them with a new female Vocalist by the name of Anette Olzon.

The show was excellent. The band has an excellent stage presence which compounded with the energy they produce made for a great night. I hope Nightwish makes their way back to Albuquerque again.
